Abstract Introduction: Academic Procrastination is one of the most challenging problems facing students today. The aim of this study was to identify the relationship between the rate of mobile-phone use in university students and domains of their academic procrastination. Methods: The research method was descriptive-correlational. Its population was all students consisted of all male and female students studying at the University of Isfahan and Isfahan University of Medical Science in the 2017-2018 academic year according to Krejcie and Morgan table 375 student were selected by proportional stratified sampling method. The Sevari academic procrastination questionnaire (with dimensions of deliberating procrastination, procrastination caused by physical-mental and procrastination caused by disorganization), were used for data gathering. Data were analyzed in software SPSS by applying Pearson product-moment correlation matrix and analysis of variance. Results: The findings of the study suggested that there was a positive significant relationship between the rate of excessive mobile-phone usage in general and all the components of academic procrastination.
Conclusions: The results of the research indicated that there was a relationship between excessive use of mobile phones and academic procrastination among students that should be considered, appropriate solutions for prevention and reduction of academic procrastination among students.
