Introduction:Relationships of couples can always face many problems and make their relationships unclear, which many therapeutic interventions have been proposed to reduce problems and increase marital relationships. Therefore, the current research was conducted with the aim of comparing the effectiveness of teaching emotion management strategies based on schema therapy and emotion-oriented therapy on the reconstruction of couples' communication patterns.
Methods:The research method was semi-experimental with a pre-test-post-test design with an extended control group with follow-up. To carry out this research, 30 couples with communication problems were selected by one-stage cluster sampling method and randomly divided into two experimental groups and one control group. A couple's communication patterns questionnaire was used to collect information in the pre-test and post-test. Then, emotional management strategies training interventions based on schema therapy and emotion-oriented couple therapy were applied for 10 sessions to both experimental groups. Data analysis was done using multivariate analysis of covariance tests in spss-24 software. Results:The results showed that the research hypothesis based on the effectiveness of teaching emotion management strategies on schema therapy and emotion-oriented couple therapy on the reconstruction of couples' communication patterns has been confirmed, and both interventions in the post-test and follow-up stages have an effect on the reconstruction of couples' communication patterns. were positive and significant (P<0.01). Also, the results of the follow-up test indicated that the effectiveness of schema therapy intervention on the reconstruction of communication patterns was more than that of emotion-oriented couple therapy (P<0.01). Therefore, the schema therapy approach can be used as an efficient method in the reconstruction of couples' communication patterns. Conclusion:Both approaches are effective in improving couples' communication patterns. But the effectiveness of schema therapy is more efficient than emotion-oriented couple therapy.
