Development of Faculty Members of Universities and Institutions of Higher Education with an Emphasis on Systematic Approach

Introduction: The aim of this study was to identify the components of faculty development with an emphasis on systematic approach.
Methods: The method of the present study is a documentary method. The researcher has searched and compiled internal and external databases for articles, research reports, books and academic dissertations available in databases such as IRANDOC, SID, ELSIVER, EBSCO, ERIC, SPRINGER and PREQUEST.
Results: Data analysis showed that the faculty development goals in designing and implementing programs are individual goals and organizational goals. Structures and organizational plans must be ready to support and facilitate this program. In addition to universities and higher education institutions, the ministries of the affiliated and the faculty itself is necessary to co-operate and assist. And the processes formed in this case are traditional processes, supportive processes and, finally, administrative processes. Expected outcomes include: changes in student learning, change in organization, and change in attitudes and skills of faculty members.
Conclusions: The faculty development must be planned, with a systematic and comprehensive approach with considering the underlying factors, environment and outcomes. And taking into account the diverse goals and needs of universities and faculty members.
