The Relationship between Knowledge Management and Dimensions of Empowerment of the Educational Staff of Mazandaran University of Medical Sciences

Introduction: The use of knowledge management in educational organizations is also considered as an essential strategy in empowering employees to advance goals. The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between knowledge management and empowerment dimensions of staff in Mazandaran University of Medical Sciences in 2017.
Methods: The present study is descriptive-survey. The statistical population of this study was 110 employees of Mazandaran University of Medical Sciences. A sample of 86 people was selected randomly. To collect data, two types of standard questionnaire, knowledge management (Shoron Lawson, 2003) with 24 questions and standard questionnaire for psychological empowerment (Spritzer & Mishra) were used with 15 questions. The questionnaires have good validity and their reliability is equal to 0/79, 0/83 Has been achieved. The statistical method used in this research is Spearman correlation test.
 
Results: There is a significant relationship between knowledge management and employee empowerment (p<0/05). Also, there is a significant relationship between knowledge management and dimensions of competency, autonomy, impact, meaningfulness and trust.
Conclusion: Knowledge management as a strategic need is educational for organizations and it guarantees long-term advantages, as well as educational organizations to seize the intellectual property of their employees and to empower them. Investigating the relationship between knowledge management and empowerment at the university shows that any amount of knowledge management in the organization will be expanded, employees will have more competence and competence to advance the goals.
