Introduction: Academic buoyancy is a positive and adaptive constructive response to problems and challenges of academic course and was affected by personality traits and motivational factors. Therefore, present study aimed to predict the academic buoyancy based on types of morning-evening with mediating role of achievement motivation in nursing students. Methods: The research method was descriptive-correlation. The statistical population included all nursing students at Kashan University of Medical Sciences in the academic year 2017-2018. According to table of Morgan and Krejcie, 181 students were selected through one stage cluster sampling and completed Academic Buoyancy Questionnaire and Morning- Evening Questionnaire and Achievement Motivation Questionnaire. Results: Types of morning-evening and achievement motivation are positive and significant predictors of academic buoyancy (P<0.01). Achievement motivation has a mediating role in the relationship between types of morning-evening and academic buoyancy (P<0.01). Conclusion: Morning personality type is associated with high academic buoyancy. The types of morning-evening predict more academic buoyancy through achievement motivation. In order to increase the academic buoyancy of nursing students, it is suggested to pay attention to types of morning-evening and promote their achievement motivation.
