Compilation of a health-oriented academic lifestyle model based on sports motivation with the moderating role of social networks

Introduction: One of the emerging ideas in the field of academic health psychology is the health-oriented academic lifestyle, which provides a valuable framework for knowing the motivational/emotional/behavioral conditions of learners. The current research was conducted with the aim of developing a health-oriented academic lifestyle model based on sports motivation with the moderating role of social networks.
Methods: The current research was descriptive-correlational and of structural equation modeling type. The statistical population of the research included all undergraduate students of Bu Ali Sina University in 2020-2021 in the number of 10,855 people, and the sample size was calculated as 373 people based on Morgan's table. The data collection tool was the health-oriented academic lifestyle behavior questionnaire of Salehzadeh et al. (2016), David Markland's sports activities motivation questionnaire (2004) and the questionnaire of using social networks by Khodayari, Daneshvar Hosseini and Saeedi (2015).
Results: The research findings showed that social networks do not have a moderating role in explaining the relationship between sports motivation and health-oriented academic lifestyle of students. Also, the results showed that the motivation to participate in sports activities has a positive and significant effect on health-oriented academic lifestyle. Also, social networks do not have a significant effect on the health-oriented academic lifestyle
Conclusions: Based on the results of the present research, it can be said that the motivation to participate in sports activities is a valuable solution to achieve behaviors that promote health-oriented academic lifestyles, and today social networks are a strong and effective media for the development of sports motivation
