Comparison of academic performance and happiness in female students with low, moderate and high levels of physical activity

Introduction: The purpose of this study was to compare the academic performance and happiness of students with low, moderate and high levels of physical activity.
Methods: The research method was descriptive and of causal type comparative. The research population was all female students of Islamic Azad University, Izeh Branch, who were studying in the academic year of 1996-96. 100 people were selected by simple random sampling. Physical activity level data were collected through Beck's physical activity questionnaire and the grade of academic achievement was used for the past semester. Students were evaluated using the Oxford Happiness Inventory (OHI) to measure their happiness score. To analyze the data Data were analyzed using one-way ANOVA using SPSS software. Turkey’s post hoc test was used to compare the groups.
Results: Findings showed that physical activity level has a significant effect on academic performance and happiness of female students. (P < 0.05).
Conclusions: Thus, students with higher physical activity levels showed higher happiness and higher academic performance.
