Comparative study of nursing Ph.D. education program in Iran and Yale Universities

Introduction: Universities play an important role in social development and knowledge production. Generating a qualified workforce to produce knowledge mainly takes place through doctoral programs at universities. Ph.D Nursing graduates are a leading factor in nursing science, career counselors and educators of future nursing researchers. Curriculum plays a role in the better implementation of these tasks. Therefore, it is considered necessary to recognize the strengths and weaknesses of our country's curriculum. Therefore, the aim of this study was comparative study of nursing Ph.D courses in Iran with Yale School of Nursung.
Method: This descriptive-comparative study was conducted in 2018. After receiving Ph.D. Curriculum from Iran and Yale School of Nursung, comparison was performed using the Beredy pattern. This template consists of comparative studies that include four stages of description, interpretation, neighborhood, and comparison.
Result: Despite some similarities in admission, attention to fair service and equality of rights, community-centered nursing profession, the expression of competencies, differences there were in holding seminars in the field of dissertation, clinical staffing of faculty members, having an operational plan , Bidding to fulfill the mission and vision, having a DNP course between Yale and Iran.
Conclusion: The results of this study indicate that the nursing doctoral curriculum should make steps in fulfilling the mission, vision and ultimately, the development of nursing Ph.D education system by making changes in the acceptance, the educational strategy, the development of the action plan and the units of the curriculum.
