Introduction The aim of study is investigating students' understanding of the team work process and group performance in virtual education in nursing students during the Covid-19. Method This descriptive study was conducted after obtaining ethics code (IR.IUMS.REC.1400.837) for Faculty of Nursing-Midwifery in Iran University of Medical Sciences. The data was collected from 204 nursing students by convince sampling. Questionnaire which included three parts of teamwork evaluation, understanding the teamwork process, and team performance in virtual education, which it’s validity and reliability confirmed in previous studies, and again confirmed by experts, and reliability was calculated as α=0.93. Data were analyzed by descriptive tests in SPSS version 16 software. Results The findings of the study showed that most of the participating students (55.4%) were women and above (51%) 20 years old. The students were undergraduates and 76% of them had completed team work in more than 5 lessons. In the teamwork evaluation part, the total average score was 3.83±0.97. In the section of understanding the teamwork process, the total average was 3.57±0.94 and in the team's performance section, the total average was 3.13±0.91. Conclusion The results of this research showed that although the students generally considered team work function to be above average, and they knew what was expected of them, but suffer from the workload pressure in the group and the division of work is unfair. Therefore, it is necessary for teachers to have more detailed planning to solve this problem in order to divide the work and play their roles.
