Introduction: In order to move towards thinking-oriented education, it is necessary to use learning methods based on exploration. This study was conducted with the aim of investigating the effectiveness of learning based on the circle of philosophical exploration on the moral intelligence and happiness of primary school students.
Methods: The present study is a semi-experimental type in which a pre-test-post-test design was conducted with a control group with repeated measurements in one week and six weeks after the intervention. The statistical population of the present study includes the students of the second secondary schools of the 6th district of Tehran. In this study, the sampling method was a multi-stage random-cluster method. For this purpose, 3 schools were selected from the second secondary schools of district 6 of Tehran and 3 schools were selected from the second secondary boys' schools, and 3 classes were randomly selected from each school, and 270 students completed the questionnaires.
Results: The findings showed that the difference between the average pre-test and post-test of moral intelligence and happiness of elementary school students in the experimental group before and after the intervention in the time intervals of one and six weeks is significant at the level of 0.001. The significance of the F statistic and the mean difference indicates that the average moral intelligence and happiness of elementary school students increased significantly from the pre-test to the post-test in the time intervals of one and six weeks, which indicates the effectiveness of the intervention.
Conclusions: The results of this research showed that learning based on the circle of philosophical exploration is effective in improving the moral intelligence and happiness of elementary school students. Considering the effectiveness of learning based on the circle of philosophical exploration, this method should be prioritized in teaching and learning.
