Introduction: Self-compassion is a protective coping strategy that can lead to increased resilience in times of crisis and moderate the response to threat. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of self-compassion training on loneliness and negative spontaneous thoughts of students with Corona anxiety. Methods:The method of this quasi-experimental study was pretest-posttest with a control group. The statistical population of this study included students with Covid-19 anxiety in Payam Noor University in the academic year 2021-2022. Thirty students who had obtained average and high scores in the Corona Anxiety Questionnaire (2015) were randomly selected and randomly assigned to the experimental and control groups. In this study, Russell et al. (1980) and Kendall and Holon (1980) Negative Spontaneous Thoughts Questionnaire were used to collect information. The intervention sessions were also conducted according to the plan of 8 sessions of 45 minutes of self-compassion training Gilbert (2009). Multivariate analysis of covariance was used to analyze the data. Results: The results showed that self-compassion training had a significant effect on reducing loneliness and negative spontaneous thoughts of students with Corona anxiety (p <0.01). Conclusion: According to the research results, counselors and psychologists can use compassion training to reduce feelings of loneliness and negative spontaneous thoughts in students with Corona anxiety.
