Exploring the organizational culture dominating in ShahidSadughi University of Medical Sciences, Yazd, according to the points of view of the faculty members based on Hofstede model 2015

Background and aim: This study is intended to explore the organizational culture dominating in ShahidSadughi University of Medical Sciences, Yazd, according to the points of view of the faculty members based on Hofstede model.

Methods: This study was a cross-sectional one. All of the faculty members of the fields of Basic Sciences in ShahidSadughi University of Medical Sciences and Health Services, Yazd, were taken as the target population of this study 2015 . The calculated sample size was 112 individuals and the sample was gathered through simple random sampling. The data collection tool was demographic variables and organizational culture questionnaire developed by Hofstede.

Results: 72.3 % of the subjects were male, while 25.9 % were female. the average age range of the sample was 43.26 years (SD = 8/97) and their average work experience was 15.7 years (SD = 9/66). 24.1 % of them were instructors, 50% were assistant professors, 7.1 % were full professors, and 16.1 % were associate professors. There was a negative significant relationship between experience and risk taking, and the masculinity / femininity was different among men and women. Field of study, management experience, status of faculty members (native or non-native), and type of the faculty did not have any significant relationship with the organizational culture.

Discussion and conclusion: The faculty members consider organizational culture supportive and developmental. They also believe that in addition its care for personal and social responsibilities, the university has a tendency is to avoid injustice.
