| The purpose of the present study was to develop a professional competency model for secondary school teachers in Iran from the perspective of Farhangian University faculty members. This research employed a qualitative approach using thematic analysis. The statistical population included Farhangian University faculty members nationwide with expertise in education, curriculum planning, and educational psychology. Purposeful sampling was conducted, and semi-structured interviews were held with 11 faculty members. Data collection continued until theoretical saturation was achieved. The data were analyzed using open, axial, and selective coding, and strategies to ensure trustworthiness—including credibility, transferability, dependability, and confirmability—were employed to enhance the validity of the findings. The results indicated that professional competency of secondary school teachers is a multidimensional and dynamic construct, organized into seven main dimensions: personal characteristics, skills, knowledge, instruction, ability, evaluation, and attitude. Overall, the findings suggested that the development of teachers’ professional competency requires a comprehensive, practice-based, contextually grounded, and continuous approach. The proposed model can provide a scientific basis for curriculum planning at Farhangian University, designing empowerment programs, and improving the quality of education in Iranian secondary schools. |
