Introduction: The present study aimed to determine the effectiveness of the Emotionally Focused Intervention (EFT) training protocol on improving the quality of life of women with breast cancer after chemotherapy.
Methods: This research is a experimental study that was based conducted with a pre-test and post-test design with control group. The statistical Population of this study include all women between 35-50 years old with breast cancer who were admitted for treatment to Motamed Research Center (breast cancer), affiliated to Academic Center for Education, Culture and Research. The studied sample consisted of 30 women with breast cancer who were selected from Breast Disease Clinic and were randomly placed in experimental and control groups. In order to collect data, Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI) was used. Then, for the experimental group, nine 90-minute intervention sessions were held on weekly basis. Data were analyzed using multivariate covariance analysis.
Results: data-analysis showed a significant difference between post-test mean scores of experimental group and control group so that Emotional Focused Therapy (EFT) training affected sexual function of women with breast cancer.
Conclusion: The findings of the present study indicate that emotion-focused therapy education can improve the quality of life of women with breast cancer. Therefore, developing educational programs with an emotion-focused approach in medical centers should be used as a valid and efficient strategy in improving the quality of life of individuals. |
