Explaining the concept and dimensions of Spirituality in teaching from the point of view of the Seminaries and Universities professors and students

Introduction: One of the ways to improve the teaching and learning process is to use spirituality, the most important of which is the presence of teachers of spirituality. The current study was carried out to reach the concept of spirituality in teaching and recognizing its dimensions from the viewpoint of seminary and university professors and students precisely. 

Methods: This study is a qualitative study of content analysis. The study population consisted of 22 university professors, 25 seminary professors and 19 students interested in participating in the study. They were included in the study by available sampling. Data collection was done by semi-structured interviews. Data was analyzed using MAXQDA software and by conventional content analysis method.

Results: The findings were categorized in 3 themes, 8 classes and 35 codes. One theme as spiritual content was included classes emphasizing religious beliefs, addressing human and moral issues and teaching religious arguments. The other theme was the use of teaching methods for the transfer of spirituality, including the categories of the provision of spiritual content, both formal and non-formal. Furthermore the use of effective teaching approaches. Third theme as facilitating spiritual evolution was included classes entitled raising religious dimensions, cultivating human-moral dimensions and achieving the ultimate goal of educational goals.

Conclusion: Efforts to increase the knowledge and awareness of seminary and university instructors on the spiritual issues, in order to transfer spiritual and moral concepts to students, is an effective step in promoting higher education in order to achieve the goals of educational goals.
