Abstract:   (7 Views)
Introduction: The doctoral student admission system in the country's universities needs to be improved and revised to improve the quality of higher education. Currently, there are challenges such as the lack of transparent criteria, the mismatch of admission processes with labor market needs, and the lack of fairness in admission, which limit the effectiveness of this system. The aim of this study is to identify the dimensions and components that are effective in improving the doctoral student admission system in the country's universities.
Method: This study was conducted with a qualitative approach and thematic content analysis method. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews with professors and experts in the field of higher education and university administrators in 1403.
Results: Data analysis was conducted using thematic analysis method to identify main themes and hidden patterns from the content of the interviews. In this study, five key dimensions were identified, including assessing strengths and weaknesses, challenges of the current student admission system, analyzing the performance of the admission system in selected universities, developing up-to-date and operational criteria to ensure the quality of students, and providing new mechanisms to improve the student admission process. Each of these dimensions was divided into a set of components and practical concepts that can be used to improve the transparency, fairness, and efficiency of the graduate admissions system.
Conclusion: The study results showed that reforming structures and behaviors, strengthening technological infrastructure, and reviewing policies and procedures can lead to improved quality of doctoral admissions. In addition to improving the quality of education, these measures help increase educational equity, university accountability, and constructive interaction with the labor market.
Keywords: PhD student admission, quality assurance criteria, new technologies, educational justice.
