Introduction: The purpose of this study was the effect of functional analytic psychotherapy on reducing academic burnout of final year female students Islamic Azad University, (Khomeinishahr branch) 2015-2016. Methods: This study was a semi experience of pretest and post-test with control group. The statistical society of this thesis was girl students of Islamic Azad University of Isfahan (Khomeinishahr Branch) in summer and winter of 2015. The sample of this study contained 30 female students that were selected from the available sampling in two groups contained experimental group and control group. Student's received 16 sessions in 16 weeks functional analytic psychotherapy (FAP) and in the end of sessions, the post test was played for both of the groups. The tool of this experience was Maslash’s academic burnout inventory. The data was analyzed by SPSS software and statistical covariance method. Results: The results showed that there was a meaning difference between the academic burnout in experimental group and control group, so this result mentioned that the functional analytic psychotherapy was effected on academic burnout of girl student (P < 0.01). Also the results showed that the functional analytic psychotherapy (FAP) reduced the sampling emotional exhaustion and depersonalization, and decreased reduced personal integrity (P < 0.05). Conclusions: So we can conclude that we can use this approach for reducing academic burnout of student.
