Correlation of humor and academic burnout in students of Qom University of Medical Sciences

Introduction: Academic burnout is a state which has of great importance in a person's academic productivity and the way he performs in success during his studies. In this research, the researchers decided to conduct a study with the aim of correlation of humor with academic burnout in students of Qom University of Medical Sciences.
Method: The type of descriptive analytical study is cross-sectional and applied. The research population was all the students of Qom University of Medical Sciences who met the entry criteria and 260 people were randomly selected to participate in the study. Written informed consent was obtained from all subjects to participate in the study. Then three questionnaires (demographic information, Maslach's academic burnout and Khashoui's humor) were completed and the data were compared using statistical tests.
Findings: This study was conducted on 260 students of Qom University of Medical Sciences in different fields and levels. In this study, the average academic burnout (34.33±14.87) and the average sense of humor (114.03±24.55) were obtained. Based on the results, there was a direct and significant relationship between demographic variables and academic burnout in this study. (p<0.05)
Conclusion: This study showed that the more humor students have, the less likely they will suffer academic burnout.
