Introduction: This paper aims to identify the elements, features, and mechanics of computer games that can be used in instruction and learning. Methods: The research method in this study was the content analysis method. The statistical population consisted of all books and scientific articles in Persian and English that indexed in databases and journals until 2018, and the sampling was purposeful. That between the resources searched, 32 of them were purposefully chosen. The data collection method was library and the data analysis method was coding. Results: After analyzing and coding the content, elements such as goal, rules, mechanics, feedback, and several other things, features such as being multimedia, having clear goals, practice the ability and so on, mechanics such as building, design, storytelling, decision making, classification, resource management, and so on identified Conclusion: Instructional computer games with behaving some elements, features and mechanics can be considered as a standard instructional medium, if the instructional objectives and conditions matched with the elements, features, and mechanics of computer games, and when it's possible that can create a balance between the fun of games and the seriousness of the instruction.
