Introduction: In the era of rapid technological developments and increasing expectations from the health system, nurse education requires new and creative approaches. Traditional education often cannot fill the gap between theoretical knowledge and complex clinical needs. This study aimed to investigate the role of creative and innovative strategies in in-service training of nurses and their impact on the quality of care and their clinical performance.
Methods: This study is a narrative review that, using the JBI methodology, examined articles published between 1393 and 1403 (2015-2025). An electronic search was conducted in Magiran, Google Scholar, Scopus, PubMed, and Jihad Daneshgahi databases using the Persian and English keywords of in-service training, nurses, creativity, innovation, and quality of care. Of the initial 85 articles, 8 articles that were relevant in terms of content and had access to their full text were included in the study after assessing the quality with the standard JBI checklists.
Results: The results of the studies showed that the integration of creative approaches in in-service training of nurses can significantly positively affect their learning and professional performance. For example, simulation-based training led to a 37% improvement in nurses' communication skills. Combined methods (gamification + e-learning) increased learning participation by 89%. However, the main barriers to implementing these approaches were reported to include lack of funding and organizational resistance .
